Punjab Curriculum Board Revises Scheme of Studies for Matric Classes
The Punjab Curriculum and Textbook Board (PCTB) has announced significant revisions to the Scheme of Studies for Secondary School Certificate (SSC) / Matric (Grades 9-10) for all public and private educational institutions and Deeni Madaris in Punjab. These changes were approved during the 117th meeting of the PCTB Board of Governors held on May 9, 2024.
Key Revisions:
- Islamiyat in Grade 9: Starting from the Academic Session 2024-25, Islamiyat (Compulsory) will be taught in Grade 9 (Part-I) carrying 100 marks. Concurrently, the teaching of Pakistan Studies (Compulsory) in Grade 9 (Part-I) will be discontinued.
- Pakistan Studies in Grade 10: From the Academic Session 2025-26 onwards, Pakistan Studies (Compulsory) will be taught in Grade 10 (Part II) carrying 100 marks. Simultaneously, the teaching of Islamiyat (Compulsory) in Grade 10 (Part II) will be discontinued.
These revisions aim to streamline the curriculum and ensure a focused approach towards these essential subjects in the respective grades.
